I am the step mother of a child in crisis. Our family is nearing the crisis point with her. My step-daughter is 13 and has lived in my home since her father and I married when she was 5. My husband and I have 2 younger children together. We have tried traditional counseling and therapy for my step daughter but there has been very little success. I am an exceptional children's teacher in NC and came across the information on AD from a new student I am working with in my BED classes. While researching for information and ways to work with the student in the classroom, I realized how much this sounded like my daughter. We are trying to fine a counselor in our area famuliar with AD so we can take our daughter in for screening. We live in The Raliegh-Duraham Area of NC. If anyone has suggestions please send them on.
